the
deliberator - wiring |
Our system has a hybrid parallel/serial wiring configuration
that can accomodate different seating arrangements and different
size legislatures (up to 20 members).
The design also permits low-voltage communications between
the keypad and the computer using telephone-type wire (Cat
5 cable) with modular connectors.
Basic Configuration
Communications to and from the computer and keypads are
made through a spare serial port connected to a RS422
multiplexer that is powered independently by an external
12-volt power supply. In this configuration (recommended),
each keypad is connected in parallel to the RS422 box.

Alternate Configuration
Up to four keypads may be interconnected to a single port
on the RS422 box. |
